4 Steps to Building Your Quiz

So, you have decided you want to build a quiz.

Now you are trying to figure out how to build an effective quiz to reach your ideal audience.

Here are the first 4 Steps in Building Your Quiz.

Step #1 Determine what Your Goal is of Building a Quiz

Determine what your goal is for creating a quiz.

There are a ton of possibilities depending on your goals for your business.

Capture Leads

Quizzes are one of my favorite ways to bring new leads into your sales funnel. At the end of the quiz, you can use a video or blog post to start to connect to your audience! Quizzes are one of the cheaper ways to generate a lead in your business.

Gather Information

If you are looking for information to help you with your marketing, this is a GREAT type of quiz.  This will help you know exactly who your audience is and how they think.  This type of quiz is a fun version of a survey.

Engage Your Audience

To create raving fans, you need to continually be in front of them.  And you need to give them something to talk about.  Quizzes are a fun and interactive way to create raving fans.

Quizzes are also an excellent way to test their knowledge when you teach them a skill or break apart your content.

Business Exposure

Most entrepreneurs new in business are looking to just get their b business seen by more people.  Quizzes are a great way to gain exposure on social media and establish your brand to a larger audience.

Step #2 What happens at the end of the quiz?

Once you know your quiz goal, you need to determine what happens after they finish your quiz.

What Call to Action do you desire at the end of the quiz?

  • Share the quiz and their results on Social Media.
  • Sign Up for Your Free Facebook Group
  • Sign Up for an Email List (usually with more ideas or help around the quiz)
  • Sell a Product or Service
  • Warm them Up with a Video or Blog Post

The call to action is the most important part of the building your quiz.

You should create your quiz based on the result you are looking for.

Step #3 Identify Your Target Audience

Who is your target market for your quiz?

If you already have built a list of your ideal audience, you should know what they like or do not like based on topics they respond to.

If you do not have a list of your ideal audience.  Go to Google, Facebook groups, Instagram Hashtags, YouTube, wherever your ideal clients are hanging out online and research your target audience.

Who is your target audience?

Create a persona of your target audience. Here are just a few questions to consider when creating your persona.

  • Where do they live?
  • Are they male or female?
  • What do they do for a living?
  • What do they find funny?
  • What do they find useful?
  • What do they like and not like?
  • Who do they follow online?
  • Where do they tend to spend their money?
  • How old are they?
  • What problem do they need to be solved?
  • What type of solutions are they researching?

And the most important question: Who could use the products or content that you offer?

Once you have created your persona, create your quiz for that individual who fits this target and create your quizzes for them!

Step #4 Brainstorm Topics

With your end goal and target audience in mind, you should start brainstorming topics for your quizzes.

You might already have some ideas you are thinking about.

But take some time to research the type of content your ideal audience is loving and relating to; what are they sharing on social media? What are they asking on social media?

The topic of your quiz should always align with your END goal in mind.

  • What do you want to promote?
  • What information do you want to gather?
  • What product or Services do you want to sell?

Here are a few ideas to choose your quiz topic:

  • You are looking to capture leads and grow your email list for your financial coaching business, so you create a quiz asking, "Where do you spend your money?"

This quiz's responses will help you understand how they spend their money, their financial habits, and ingrained thought process around money. You can use this data from the quiz to create content, and more importantly, to be able to sell products and services.

  • Gather information to sell a product or service: You have a marketing webinar to promote and sell your new digital product. You can create a quiz titled "What's Your Marketing Style?"

Based on the quiz responses, you can create your content for your webinar to make it sound like that webinar was tailored especially for them!

Now it is your turn, share your goals for your quiz! Let's brainstorm some ideas together!
